For international IASC participants planning on traveling to the University of Massachusetts in 2025 who need a US visitor’s visa, please be advised that worldwide US consular appointments for B-1 visitor visas often have a 9-15 month waiting period to schedule appointments depending on your region of the world.
Therefore, if you think you want to attend IASC 2025 in person, you are strongly encouraged to schedule a US consular appointment as soon as possible in order to secure a visa in a timely manner. Please do not wait until a few months prior to the 2025 conference to apply.
Certain countries are exempt from visa formalities and are part of the US Visa Waiver Program, also known as “ESTA.” A list of ESTA visa-exempt countries can be found here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visa-waiver-program.html
But if your country does require a visa, please see https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/tourism-visit/visitor.html#apply for further information on US consular scheduling information.
The organizers of IASC can provide you with a B-1 visa support letter confirming your attendance at the IASC 2025 conference in Massachusetts, but please note such a letter is not needed to schedule your initial US consular appointment in advance.
Email the organizers, Charlie Schweik (cschweik@umass.edu) or Michael Cox (Michael.E.Cox@dartmouth.edu) with a subject line “IASC 2025 VISA support letter needed”.
